The Oyster workshop is designed as a sandbox for people who want to examine their idea as a business idea before deciding what to do about it.
The workshop is offered four times in 2025:
Saturdays from 10am to 4pm and Sundays from 10am to 1pm on the following dates:
The in-person workshops are hosted at the Paramount Executive Centre, 300-848 Courtney Street, Victoria, BC V8W 1C4. The online workshops are hosted in Zoom.
The workshop is offered at $375.00 + GST.
This is what you will do in the workshop:
The Oyster Workshop is designed as a hands-on, fun and fast way for you to act on your business idea. Making your own decisions you translate your idea into a business concept.
Over a day and a half you are coached through a simple 5-step process. You create a "minimal viable version" of your idea, a lean website (for desktop and smartphone), and a simple test plan. You get to test your business idea in the market, so you can learn from early feedback from real customers.
This is what you will have after the workshop
You will also have a name for your business, a logo, a URL for your website, and an outline for a presentation deck (should you want to present your business concept to others, for example for entrance into one of the many programs for Canadian entrepreneurs listed in References).
Added Value:
Satisfaction Guarantee
If the workshop does not meet your expectations or does not deliver on its promises - while you have done your part preparing for the sessions - I (the instructor) will work with you individually until the promises have been fulfilled.
Do not hesitate to email or book a time to meet to decide whether this Action Workshop is for you.

My experience has shown me that ideas get much, much better when developed in collaboration with others. The small group of collaborators will provide invaluable feedback and ideas. They will work as your research panel, idea collaborators, and informal Board of Directors. You can practice your pitch in the safety of other like-minded collaborators and when we practice saying our ideas out loud and talking about them, we also commit more readily to them. Everyone participates in the workshop with their different ideas, committed to taking action, and you will soon realize the immense value of feedback from others.
The most difficult part of developing websites today is not building the website but creating the content. You will be coached in developing the basic content sections of your website (copy and images) - and how to use AI to support you in developing content. Then, you are coached in setting up your lean website (like this one, for example). I use the website templates of GoDaddy (I am not affiliated with GoDaddy in any way, though), because reviews show these are the easiest and most intuitive to work with for small businesses. As well, I have experienced GoDaddy's 24-7 support staff to be readily accessible and professional. We build the sites in their 30-day free module. This gives you enough time to test your business idea and how it communicates through a website. After the 30-day free trial period you can decide whether you wish to let another web designer (maybe a family member or friend) build your website on another platform - or whether you wish to continue with the GoDaddy platform.
At this point the workshops are offered four times a year. The reason is I want to keep the workshop content fresh and exciting for participants and myself. This is not an assembly line, but real people with real ideas, and I take this very seriously. In between I continue to gather new experience and ideas through consulting and teaching commitments. If a group of you can agree on a different time schedule (than the advertised start dates) and/or a different delivery format I may be able to accommodate. Please let us connect about this option.
